Week 6

This weekend we took the equipment to the beach! We were able to get some fun beach shots for b-roll and just play around with the camera and sound equipment. This past weekend didn’t work out for my aunt so we were not able to go to Wallace. We are going to reschedule that for another weekend sometime after Spring Break so we are finding a day that works for all of us right now. We have plans to go visit Kure beach this weekend to do the interview with Cathy and her husband. We are excited for this shoot as is will be out first real interview! It should be an eventful day as the whole group is going and we plan to get b-roll while we are down there as well. Lastly, we are waiting to hear from the retirement homes that Taylor has reached out to for us to be able to shoot there! All in all the project is going well and we are excited to get the interviews going.

Week 5

This week Taylor has been reaching out to lots of nursing homes to potentially get in there and interview some residents. She has been working tirelessly on making sure that we get enough interviewees and I think she is doing a great job. This Friday we have plan to head to Wallace to see my Aunt Kathy. I know since her knee replacement she has not being feeling great so hopefully she will be up to an interview and if not then we can try and plan for something after spring break. We have been in touch with another Cathy (so funny two Cathy’s in one documentary!) to see if her and her husband are willing to participate as well. That contact is based off of a friend that someone in class mentioned so we appreciate the help with our documentary. Every week I am working hard to make sure we have all the equipment we need to shoot!

Week 4

This week our assignment 3 was due. On Monday our team got together to complete all the necessary items for this presentation on Wednesday. So far our group has been working cohesively to complete each part of our assignment. I believe this assignment is fairly easy for us because we don’t have a complex budget or shooting schedule. For the most part interviews and b-roll shooting dates are working out for our group on the weekends and Fridays since we all seem to be free then. The budget does not seem to be as complex as other groups since we are so localized in our project and do not have to travel far or pay cast an crew.

As for the style of the documentary and the equipment we will be needing, Anthony and James have done a great job at collaborating on both of those things and are specific about their wants and matching with what the director wants the film to look like as well. After we finish up with assignment 3 we already have b-roll shooting for this week which I think will jump start our first steps into the production aspect of our film.

Week 3

Our group has been hard at work trying to get things in order for Assignment 3. Over our group chat we have been working on getting interviews in order and organizing all of the different parts for the assignment and our presentation next week. It has been difficult to get our schedules in order but we are trying hard as a group to make the pre-production aspects of this project come together in order for everything in actual production will run smoothly. So far everything is coming together and it seems like this project will be something that can actually be completed over the course of this semester.

While the beginning has been slow I know that once we really get into the production of our film that my role as producer will be more extensive in terms of renting equipment and getting all the paperwork in order. I am ready to be in full production mode and start the interviews of this film to see where the story takes us. I believe that once we start filming then the story will begin to unfold more and we can truly see what is the message we want this film to tell.
